Pine Class
Pine Class at Vranch House
In Pine Class, our focus is on helping each pupil develop greater independence across all areas of life. Whether it's building physical skills to move and explore, learning to dress, manage personal care, or develop daily living skills like eating and drinking, every achievement is celebrated.
Communication is at the heart of everything we do. We support each child to express themselves in ways that work for them—using AAC devices, Makaton, symbols, speech, or gestures. Much of our learning is rooted in sensory and physical experiences that not only support development but also encourage meaningful communication.
Innovation is key in Pine Class. Some of our pupils have been the first to try out our new running frames—an exciting addition that’s already proving popular. With requests for "running" becoming a daily delight, we’ve taken to the garden and even ventured to the local park, giving children the space to build speed and confidence. It’s our hope that one day some may pursue this para-athletic sport as a passion—perhaps even at a competitive level!
Fridays are for adventure, as pupils from Pine and Elm classes head out on community trips.
Grouped by age, our secondary pupils work towards AQA unit awards, exploring local supermarkets, parks, forests, beaches, and making choices about fun outings like bowling. These trips provide valuable opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-world settings and grow independence in the wider community.
Pine Class is all about empowering every child to discover their voice, strengthen their skills, and enjoy the journey of learning in a nurturing and stimulating environment.
