Devon Children's Physiotherapy

At Vranch House physiotherapists support children and young people across a large geographical area of Devon as outpatients, school pupils and in a variety of clinics held on the premises. We liaise closely with paediatricians, orthopaedic surgeons and other health professionals including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and paediatric nurses from Integrated children's Services, RD&E staff, social care practitioners and teachers.

As outpatients, children and young people attend for assessment and treatment with a variety of conditions, for example

• Developmental co-ordination disorder
• Cerebral palsy
• Neuromuscular conditions
• Pain management
• Developmental delay
• Post-operative treatment following surgery
• Rehabilitation following neurological events e.g. spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, stroke

Vranch House school pupils attend either full time or on a split placement with their local mainstream school where they are supported by the teaching and clinical teams from Vranch House. The services that children at Vranch may access include:

• Individual assessment
• Group and individual therapy sessions
• Advice and input to parents and staff regarding mobility, posture, positioning, 24 hour postural management, equipment etc.
• Hydrotherapy
• Wheelchair service
• Orthotics
• Rebound therapy
• School visits
• Home visits

Physiotherapists currently working within the therapy team based at Vranch House are: Kate Moss, Kathryn Esau, Lucy Wills, Nicky White, Katie Bird, Rebecca Mills, Kirsty Scales and Gemma Brandon. Therapy assistants are Helen Hicks, Gina Herbert and Julie Lobb.
