Dear Parents & Carers,
Re: New Starts and new formats
Welcome back! I hope you all had an opportunity to make the most of the heatwave we had, whilst staying safe and well. We have a number of new staff and pupils for me to introduce this term, as well as a new format for Home-School communication.
New pupils – on behalf of all of the ‘Vranch House Family’ I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new pupils: Charlie in the Maple Nursery class and Leah in the Ash Secondary class. I hope you both enjoy every new and exciting experience we have on offer here at Vranch House!
New staff – I am delighted to welcome our new Speech & Language Therapist (S<): Sophie Johns. Sophie will be working with your children’s class teachers and class teams to carry forward the excellent work of Elle Spark, as well as bringing some new and exciting approaches to help develop speech and language across the school. It is likewise a great pleasure to announce the appointment of two new class leads: Abbey Mugliston (EY Practitioner, Willow Class) and Pippa Davey (Teacher, Beech Class). Both ladies come to us with a wealth of experience and skills in working with children and young people with educational and medical needs. Abbey has hit the ground running in Willow class, but Pippa unfortunately cannot start with us until after the autumn half term. In the interim, one of our Secondary class leads, Laura Madden, has kindly stepped-in to lead Beech Class between now and half-term.
Home-School Communication – previously, we have used A5 desk-diaries to record messages and share important information between home and school/respite. We have taken on board parent and carer feedback that this format has not always allowed the level of details desired or clarity of information about daily activities and experiences your children enjoy. To address this, you will have found in your child’s bag today a simple A4 wallet file with a completed ‘Daily log’ sheet in. This new format is a trial of a proposed new home-school communication booklet that we hope will make information sharing much clearer and effective between all adults supporting our pupils.
This format will evolve as the term progresses and these wallet files will be used to send home letters/forms and can be used to send-into school completed forms, letters or other written information. I would welcome feedback from parents and carers about your experiences of this new format and any suggestions for how we could improve this.
Yours sincerely
Ian Norton
