Parent's Newsletter - June 2021

Date added: Monday 14th June 2021

Dear Parents & Carers,

Re: Annual Reports and an invitation to Parents from DCC

Annual Reports

You will soon be receiving your child's annual school report.  These reports will provide an overview of the work covered with your child over the course of the academic year and highlights from their individual progress and personal achievements. These reports will also detail the Class your child will be in from September 2021 and the name of the teacher allocated to that class.

The process for creating class-peer groups for this current academic year took into account a wider-than-ever range of factors including: communication skills/styles, strengths and needs (cognitive and physical), learning styles, existing friendships and chronological age.  This approach to class groupings has proven extremely beneficial for all our pupils and for the continued high-quality delivery of our VIEW Curriculum.

We acknowledge that change can be difficult for some of our pupils and a worry for some parents that their child's complex needs will be have to be learnt by a new team, but please be assured that if your child is changing class or teacher, any changes are led purely by our desire to best-meet your child's needs and support the next steps in their development.  A series of meetings between teams and gradual team swops occur to ensure all information about your child is handed over to the next team.

Devon County Council (DCC) Parent engagement event - equipment

Parent Carer Forum Devon and Devon County Council are working together to hear the views and experiences of parents who have children who have been prescribed and received equipment to support them. An event on Zoom is being held on 22nd June 2021 and/or an online feedback form is available.

DCC have asked us to support this event by making this information available to all our Parents and Carers. More information and booking/feedback form can be found here:https://www.devon.gov.uk/educationandfamilies/archives/11666

The form on this website can be used for booking and/or providing feedback. Once the event has been held, DCC will compile the feedback and share this with Parents/Carers and providers.

Coffee Mornings and Family Fun/Sports Day

The Government's planned ‘Step 4' for the lifting of restriction on social events, when "It is hoped all legal limits on social contact can be removed."(seePrime Minister sets out roadmap to cautiously ease lockdown restrictions - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)) is due to come into force on Monday 21st June 2021.

We are all still hoping that this goes ahead; however, the national and local slow-down in vaccination uptake and continuing spread of the Delta COVID -19 variant may see the current level of restrictions on social gatherings remain firmly in place for longer than expected.

We have started to put together an outline plan for a combined Family Fun and Sports day at Vranch House during the week beginning the 28th June 2021, should the lifting of restrictions occur.  I will provide a further update after the Government's next scheduled announcement on the 21st June.

A reminder about ordering uniform...

The Executive PA to the Chief Executive, Tracey Ward, will be placing an order for school uniform just before the end of term.  The wearing our uniform is not mandatory and we also have a small selection second-hand uniform available for a donation of your choice.

We understand that putting on ‘school clothes' helps many of our pupils recognise that it is a ‘school day' and we do love seeing those who choose to wear uniform wearing it with pride.

If you would like to order any polo shirts, jumpers, cardigans, book bags or sun hats, whether new or second-hand, please contact Tracey Ward at Reception with the types and size or garments you require before Friday 02ndJuly 2021
