Parents and Carers of Vranch House pupils.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Re: Ofsted and upcoming events

It may have reached your ears already that Ofsted will be paying a visit to Vranch House this week; they will be visiting Vranch House between Tues 25th and Thurs 27th July 2019.  We have been invited to work collaboratively with Ofsted in a development exercise which will benefit all our pupils, staff and all involved with the school.  This is not an Ofsted Inspection and is not a cause for any concern; it is an exciting opportunity for Vranch House to work with Ofsted in improving education for all children with SEN.  As part of this collaboration, we may be asking parents to come in and talk with the Inspectors, but cannot confirm that at this time.

Sports day will be on the morning of Wednesday 3rd July, between 10.00 and 12.00am, at Vranch House.  The staff and children have been practicing hard to put on a sporting spectacle that will include flat races, target games and a Boccia tournament!  Please do come and cheer-on your child and their peers.  To minimise disruption to routines, Class 4 will be scoring points for their team by engaging in challenges in their usual Hydrotherapy slot.

The teachers and I thought we would change things a little for this summer term and in place of a whole school trip off site, we invite you all to join in with the Family Fun Day we have planned at Vranch House on Thursday 11th July, between 11.00am and 2.00pm.  This will be a Medieval-themed event including wheelchair jousting, birds of prey, archery for all, teachers in the stocks and other fun activities.  There will also be a hog roast available for all those who want to enter into the banqueting spirit, with half of the proceeds from this catering coming back to Vranch House.

As we are growing as a school, we will be holding two end of year celebration and awards events.  There will be the end of year achievement assemblies on the following dates:

  • Friday 12th July, from 1.15pm - Class 4 will be holding a celebration and achievement assembly in the school hall.
  • Friday 19th July, from 1.15pm - Nursery and Classes 1, 2 and 3 will be holding a celebration and achievement assembly in the school hall.

Please let your child's class teacher know if you will be attending any of the events as it will help us make the final arrangements.

If you would like to order new uniform for your child can you please let the School Secretary, Beverley Simcox, know asap so it can be ordered and delivered in good time.  We have ordered PE kit-style bags to replace the current Vranch House blue book bags as the Velcro doesn't always cope well with the weight of books and BigMac switches!  If you would like to have your child's book bag replaced with the new draw-string type bag, please put a note in your child's home-school book and we will exchange it free of charge.  Thank you.

I sincerely hope you will be able to join us for the upcoming events and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Yours faithfully

Ian Norton
