Vranch House are lucky to be one of @exeter_chiefs_foundation designated charities again this year which means we need volunteers to help us with bucket collections at our allocated match. Our allocated match is on Sunday 18th January 2026. Exeter Chiefs Vs Cardiff in the men’s challenge cup. Kick-off is 1pm, so volunteers need to meet at Sandy Park at 11am for our briefing and collect our buckets etc.   We have also been asked to volunteer at another match on Saturday 4th October 2025. Exeter Chiefs Vs Newcastle for a men’s Premiership match. Kick-off is 3pm, so volunteers need to meet at Sandy Park at 1pm. We’re looking for up to 40 volunteers for each match, so the more, the merrier! 🎉 If you’d like to join us in supporting Vranch House and The Exeter Chiefs Foundation, at any of the matches, we’d love to have you. 😊 Every volunteer at each game helps raise funds and contributes to the final total shared among the 26 charities at the end of the season — ensuring Vranch House gets an even bigger share! We have had a busy week at Vranch House. On Tuesday two groups of pupils of all ages attended @southweststhleticsacademy disability Athletics day at Exeter Arena. A huge thank you for putting on this event. Our pupils and staff had the best time and tried new sports for the first time. What an amazing accessible and inclusive event. While therapy is a huge part of our pupil’s school day, we know it is also important for them to be given time to play and build relationships with their peers without an adult’s intervention. . We work hard on giving our pupils the skills to communicate and giving them time and silence to be able to process and respond, hoping eventually this will enable them to communicate independently and build their social skills. . This week, we have seen some lovely spontaneous communication between 2 of our younger pupils Olly and Ezmi. As part of our Futures and Careers programme Georgia Hamer came to visit Oak class for a chat about all things post Vranch. Georgia is a former Vranch House pupil and is now an advocate for young people and adults with physical disabilities. Georgia has independently gained her English GCSE, speaks on Access All Aerials radio station and has a great knowledge of CEDA, The Pelican Project and general access in the community. Today is World Bee Day 🐝 so Rebecca and Chloe visited the bees on the rooftops of the @princesshayexeter There is a beautiful garden on the roof with hives of bees producing honey. Who knew that there is a lovely oasis up there? We had a fascinating tour, which you can book yourself onto too, with the chance to watch the bees hatching and working in a glass-fronted 'show' hive. Vranch House Limited is Princesshay's charity of the year so all of the proceeds from the tour and from the sale of the honey (for sale in @chandosdeli.exeter osDeli in Princesshay-go get yourself some 🍯😋) made by the bees will go to supporting the health and education services that we provide for children with significant physical difficulties. Celebrating International Nurses' Day at Vranch House Today, on International Nurses’ Day, we want to take a moment to recognise and thank our exceptional nursing team at Vranch House. We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated team that includes two skilled nurses and a compassionate healthcare and well-being coordinator. Together, they play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, providing essential care and support to the young people we serve. Marie has been a valued member of the Vranch House nursing team for over 11 years. With an impressive 21-year background in special educational needs (SEN) school nursing, Marie brings deep expertise and unwavering dedication to her work every day. Lucy joined the nursing team seven years ago and has been involved with Vranch House since 2013, when her daughter Imogen began attending the school. Prior to joining us, Lucy spent 15 years working in trauma and orthopaedics. Her dedication to nursing has been so inspiring that her eldest daughter is now training to become a paediatric nurse—a true testament to the impact she has on those around her. Ronnie, our healthcare and well-being coordinator, has a long-standing history with Vranch House. Over the years, she has taken on many important roles—from Teaching Assistant to Staff Representative—and now continues to make a positive impact in her current role, supporting both students and staff. This is our Vranch House family tree 💙 We have a beautiful metal tree sculpture in our grounds which is our Legacy Tree. This tree is to remember and acknowledge people who have spent time with us or supported us over the years (for example families of children who have/are still using our services, volunteers, staff, sponsors and anyone else who has helped in other ways). Our groundsman, Simon, made this tree from scratch with his own hands. You can buy a leaf for a minimum donation of £25. Leaves can be engraved with names and/or short messages. Anyone can buy a leaf- individual’s, friends, families, pupils and staff (past and present), businesses/companies. The leaves can have a name/s and/or a short message for Vranch or someone else, e.g. in memory of a loved one. Well its been a few months since some of our crazy team completed their big plunge challenge. We wanted to show you what we've already spent some of the amazing £3223.69 which they raised on. We wanted to buy lots of sensory things that would offer our PMLD pupils more oppertunies to work on communication and sensory integration. We have been able to purchase several smart strips that allow pupils to control appliances using Alexa. Some pupils have been doing this with an eye gaze, tablet, or switches. We have a big sensory vibrating mat which the children love to relax on. 2 smart adapters that enable us to turn appliances into accessible switch adapted items. A switch adapted CD player, which allows users to control the music with up to 3 switches to skip forward, back, play, and pause. 2 Tonie boxes and 18 tonie characters, which gives pupils more independence in choosing and listening to a variety of stories. Weighted gillets allow pupils to feel more grounded and able to focus on activities such as walking. We still have more money in the pot, so we will keep you updated when we buy more exciting stuff for the amazing pupils at Vranch House. World Book Day 🌎 📚👩🏼🐶 (4/4) . Finally, we had our very own Nicki do readings of her beautiful book ' Archie's Day at the Park' (which you can buy on amazon). Not only did she turn it into a sensory story, so it was an accessible session for our pupils with different things to hear, touch, and smell she brought the real life Archie into school 😍 . Pupils from 6 classes got to enjoy the wonderful sessions led by Nicki, and it was lovely to mix up classes. It made it really feel like a whole school event 🥰 . The young people didn't stop smiling, and everyone was really engaged with the heartwarming story, and of course, all of the children and staff loved meeting Archie and giving him lots of strokes and belly rubs. . World Book Day 2025 (3/4) 🌎 📚 🧪✨️ Some of our pupils made George's Marvellous Medicine sensory bottles. Again, working on communication skills, pupils used eye gazes, symbols, and auditory scanning to make choices of which colour glitter they wanted for their marvellous medicine. . Then, working on fine motor skills such as pouring the water and sprinkling the glitter into the bottle with or without support. After a good shake, the sensory bottles turned out amazing, and it was lovely to see the wonder and happiness on the pupils' faces whilst they watched their beautiful creations! #worldbookday #wbd2025 #reading #senschool

We had a jam packed day at school on Thursday, with so many lovely photos and videos of the pupils to share with you, we've had to create 4 videos to capture all the amazing things the pupils got up to. A day filled with smiles, reading stories, and laughing at staff sat in important meetings dressed as ladybirds and hobbits. . A whole school day to celebrate our love of books and reading. Whether that is a child sat independently reading a physical book, using their eye gaze to read their favourite story, watching a signing story, or an adult reading a book to their whole class. The pupils at Vranch House have been working hard! All of the pupils in Beech class achieved their AQA Unit award in 'Listening to Music' last half term. During music awareness sessions, we listened to several genres using Spotify, YouTube, CDs, and radio. Pupils worked on communicating their preferences and identifying what genre songs belonged to. Also, a group of pupils received their AQA Unit award for participating in rebound therapy sessions. Amazing work, Beech class! As part of our Spring Term Topic on ‘Animals’ Rowan class students had the opportunity to go to Ikea this week to see and feel all the different soft animal toys.’ The adults provided the sound effects!

We are completely overwhelmed with the amount of money the Fallows Family Fundraiser is raising. We have been receiving donations directly to Vranch House from some incredibly generous people from all over the country. Today, we received a cheque in the post from the kindest 7 year old boy called Freddie, who wrote this message in a card for our little superstar Jacob 💙 Brought a (happy) tear to our eye 🥹 The messages and support we have seen for Jacob and family have been unreal! A huge, huge thank you to every single donor 🥰 this money is going to make such a difference 🫶

We are so excited to have finally received our frames from @MomentumMobility kindly funded through @CPsport. Frame running is a para-athletics sport for people who have difficulty walking or running. It involves using a three-wheeled frame to propel the body forward while maintaining balance.  We have three frames at the moment, and we'd love to get a range of children involved. Unfortunately, we can not offer these to everyone at the moment due to sizing, but hopefully, we can look at more funding for some of our very young cohort and our older patients to use in the near future. Thank you to CP Sport for your support in this.  We are really so very lucky that we are looking into using some of the money the amazing Fallows family has raised to purchase a frame runner that will fit our smaller and younger pupils and patients including the incredible Jacob Fallows himself 🤩
