Devon Fun Fit & High Five

The Devon Fun Fit training programme

As you may have already heard, free training for Fun Fit in primary schools has been completed in Devon.

In order to ensure sustainability of the Fun Fit programme in schools now that the free training period has ended there are opportunities for those who would like further sessions to receive the training. Please contact the Fun Fit team for information regarding booking and costing.

The Fun Fit programme is designed to improve a child's coordination and underlying postural stability and balance. It is delivered in school for 15 minutes ideally each day.

The aim was for all primary schools in the county to have two members of staff in each school trained to carry out the programme, the SENCo or head of PE, plus a teaching assistant. When children follow the programme improvements have been seen not only in coordination but also, in many cases, academic achievement too.

The Fun Fit programme is aimed at children exhibiting poor motor skills; e.g. difficulties with PE, tendencies to trip or bump into things, poor handwriting skills,  problems with dressing, using cutlery, concentration, low self esteem.

The training combines an overview of the theory of the programme with a practical session. If you attend Fun Fit training, please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and bring a drink with you as we will not stop for a break mid session.
