Parents & Carer of pupils at Vranch House

Dear Parents & Carers,

Re: Notices and Upcoming dates

Welcome back after what I hope was an enjoyable, if not a little wet, half-term.

We are very sad to relay to Parents and Carers that one of our Reception pupils, Henry, passed away over the half-term break after a period of increased health difficulties.  Henry was a determined and couragious soul who was a much admired character across the school; he will be missed by all at Vranch House and our heartfelt condolences go to his family at this very difficult time.  His mother has posted details of the funeral arrnagments on her social media page.

Advice on the Coronavirus (Covid - 19) - to date, we have had no cases of the coronavirus in Devon.  As a pro-active measure, Public Helath England have issued key information and guidance for all schools should they have concerns about a pupil or member of staff displaying any symptoms.  I have attached this guidance as information for Parents and Carers.

I also have a number of dates for your diaries to share with you:

Thursday 5th March 2020, World Book Day 2020 - at Vranch House we welcome any excuse to share a good book and to dress up; here's a chance to do both.  Our theme this year is ‘Heroes and Villains' and we invite all our pupils to join in with the staff in dressing up as their favourite book-based hero or villain and share with their class the story from which they came.

Monday 23rd to Friday 27th Match 2020, Arts Week - in school this year we aim to help our pupils to enter the national ‘Unique Art Awards' organised by the young disabled artists charity, the Mouth and Foot Artists' Trust Fund.  The categories for entrants are: Painter, Photgrapher, 3D Sculptor, Digitial Art and Performign Arts.  To ready our pupil's entries we are holding an Arts Week in which pupils will be given plenty of inspiration, time and support from our staff to complete their entries. During this week we also hope to create lasting collabroative artwork to display in the staffroom for all visitors and those working at Vranch House to share.  Further details will be sent out nearer to what promises to be a very colourful and fun week.

Friday 27th March 2020, ABC Assembly, from 1.30pm - our usual end of the half-term assembly to celebrate the ‘Ability, Behaviour and Cognition' achievements of some of our amazing pupils.

We look forward to greeting various ‘heroes and villains' on the 5th March and wish you all a peaceful second half to the Spring term.

Yours faithfully

Ian Norton
