Dear Parents

Hope you all had a relaxing half term!

All families who came to our Harvest celebration had a brilliant time and enjoyed watching the Turnip story come to life - Mark's dad played an excellent grandad and Reuben's mum was a very pretty grandma! We admired the children's and parents' creative vegetable carvings. William's mum carved an amazing pumpkin with the Vranch House logo and well deserved the joint first prize with Michelle's butternut squash bunny!

Our coffee morning was well attended and all children loved the bunting that their artistic parents made for them.

We hope to see many of you in our forthcoming school events!

New pupil

In January we will welcome a new pupil - Faith, in Michelle's Class 1.

Staff changes

Nurse Marie has joined the nursing team and Catherine is our new mealtime assistant in Class 3.

Topic

Our topic this term is ‘Space'. The children very much enjoy learning about planets and planning their imaginary trips to the moon. A mobile planetarium will be visiting school on 20th November. All families and siblings are welcome to join us on the day. Stargazing workshops will be running from 9.30 until lunchtime. Please let us know in advance if you are able to come and join in the unforgettable experience.

My Goals

We have changed the look of the children's Individual Education Plans (IEP). They are now called My Goals. My Goals will be updated and sent home termly. Please get in touch with the class teachers to suggest short term goals you would specifically like us to work on with your child.

‘Wow moments'

All class teachers will send home ‘wow moments' slips and we would like parents to write down any fantastic things you see your child doing or saying at home.

Celebrating life

On Monday 10th November we will be celebrating the short but beautiful life of our ex-pupil, Maddie. For this occasion all staff will dress in colourful clothes and children are welcome to leave the blue Vranch House jumpers at home for the day and come to school in their brightest and prettiest clothes.

Fundraising

  • 14th November is Children in Need day. Please dress as a superhero to school and give money if you can to help the Children in Need cause.
  • On 16th December all children and staff are welcome to wear their prettiest or silliest jolly Christmas jumpers to school and donate money that will be sent to the Young Epilepsy Foundation who have supported many of our children and families.
  • Vranch House is the nominated charity of Exeter Foundation, the Exeter Chiefs Charity. We will have the opportunity to collect money on the Exeter Chiefs vs. La Rochelle game on 13th December (Saturday). If you would like to help out and receive a standing ticket for the match, please contact Andrew for details ([email protected]).

School photographer

Due to sickness the photographer had to postpone her session to 19th November (Wednesday). She will be in from 1.30pm. Siblings are welcome to join in the photo shoot.

Ofsted

Ofsted will pay an inspection visit to Vranch House in the near future. As a preparation Ofsted asked us to send home questionnaires to gain the views of the children about the school. These questionnaires were sent home this week as well as an email containing the link to the electronic versions if you prefer to submit your views that way. Please do not send us the filled out questionnaires but post or email them to Ofsted (address can be found on the forms). Deadline for submitting the forms is 12th December. Thank you!
