Dear Parents

I hope you all had a lovely break and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!

Last half term we welcomed a new pupil, Mark in Class 3 and a volunteer, Kate, who helps us with Hydrotherapy on Fridays.

Thank you to all of you who came to meet Ollie and Golly, the two llamas at Vranch House. It was a lovely afternoon with lots of llama grooming and stroking, walking and feeding. We have put together a short video about the visit which can be viewed on the Vranch House website (www.vranchhouse.org).

Dates for your diaries

First day of Summer term: 22nd April (Tuesday).

Coffee morning: 10th May 2014 (Saturday) 10-12pm.

Last day of first half of Summer term: 22nd May (Thursday).

First day of second half of Summer term: 2nd June (Monday).

Last day of Summer term: 18th July (Friday).

First day of Autumn term 2014: 8th September 2014 (Monday).

The school days/holidays for the next academic year are already published on the Vranch House website and will be sent home with your child this week.

Curriculum topic

For the Summer term our topic is ‘Transport'. During the first half term we will be learning about transport on road and rail. During the second half term the subtopics will be about transport on water, in the sky and space. During the term all children will be contributing to a whole school project on transport which you are all welcome to come and see. We have invited several visitors to talk to the children about their transport related work or hobby. If you know anyone who has an interest in the above topics and would be happy to talk to the children about it for 15 minutes please let me know.  If you have any interesting artefacts, books, stories, pictures on the topics that you could lend us for a short period we would be very happy to show them to the children.

Speech and Language Therapy

Cat Ward (Speech and Language Therapist) has been redeployed within the Speech and Language Therapy Service for the Summer Term 2014 and therefore she will not be back in Vranch House after the Easter holidays.

The SLT service is currently investigating the possibility of cover during this time. In the meantime teaching staff and therapy staff will continue to support and develop the children's communication skills as they have in the past and will continue to implement the children's SLT programmes throughout the day.

Music Therapy

From the Summer term Sue Pratt (Music Therapist) will see the children on her caseload in block weeks rather than on a rotation basis. Exact dates will be sent home with children receiving Music Therapy.

New pupil

We will be welcoming a new pupil, Reuben after half term. He is joining Michelle Woodgates and the children in Class 1.

Rotaproj 2014

Rotaproj 2014 is taking place on Sunday 20 July; if you are interested in attending the event please contact the organiser direct either by telephone or email.  For contact details and further information on the event please see the attached letter.

Saturday coffee morning

Thank you for all the lovely feedback about our coffee morning in January. Many of you asked for future dates. The next Saturday coffee morning for all families and siblings will be held on 10th May 10-12pm. As previously, Vranch volunteers will entertain and look after all children, giving parents an opportunity to chat, discuss and network over a cup of coffee and some nice treats!

Your feedback is much appreciated; please do not hesitate to contact me ([email protected]) or any member of Vranch House if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's schooling.

Wishing you all a sunny Spring!
