Welcome back to the Summer Term! Let's hope the sun shines on all the activities and celebrations taking place around our school and the entire country during the next few months!

Our targeted curriculum is continually being reviewed and as part of this we now intend to send home a termly sheet which illustrates all the groups taking place during each week. This will be in addition to the information about your child's groups which you receive from the class teacher. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the groups your child is attending please let us know as soon as possible and we will endeavour to help.

There is a transition planning event which is being held in Birmingham on Thursday 24th May, 2012. This day will cover all areas and ages of transition and will provide advice on housing, sex and relationships, personal budgets etc. Please look at the following website for further information if you are interested. www.progressmagazine.co.uk

Bicton College's Environmental Education Team have asked us to let you know about a free event being held on Saturday 19th May 2012 at Belmont Park, Newtown, Exeter, between 11am and 2pm. Exeter Community Initiative's Harvest, has teamed up with Bicton College's Environmental Education students and LoveLocalFood as well as a number of other local growing and food organisations for this event. Herewith an extract from their literature:

"At this Spring's Plant Swap and Sale: a seasonal celebration of food growing for the whole family, there will be a number of activities including a plant swap, storytelling, gardening experts Q&A, creating your very own bug hotels, making paper potters to take away and plant in your garden and our Living in the Strangest of Places activity. If you would like to come please bring along an old, broken or discarded, strange or wacky object to transform into a wildlife habitat for plants, animals or creepy crawlies. The more imaginative you are the more likely you are to win a prize!"

The Bicton College Environmental Education Team will be coming in to visit the children in school at some point between 30th April and 4th May, 2012.

There is information attached re ACE Communication Centre in Oxford which is in danger of closing due to a lack of funding - they are asking for your help via messages of support if you have any direct experiences of their support which you would like to share.

Rotaproj 2012 is taking place on Sunday 22 July; if you are interested in attending the event please contact the organiser direct (further information available on one of the emailed attachments).

We are very short of swimming towels and would be grateful if you could check at home to see if any Vranch or NHS towels have been sent home in error with the children's swimming kit. Reminder please ensure the children's own costumes and towels are labelled with your child's name.

Many thanks to Sandra Radcliffe for all her hard work in sorting and clearing out what used to be the resources cupboard in preparation for its conversion to the new sensory room which the children are all benefiting from.
