Parents Newsletter June 2011

Date added: Wednesday 29th June 2011
Latest updated: Thursday 23rd February 2023

Bus times - apologies if you have been caught out recently by buses arriving earlier than expected. I had contacted Devon Transport re amending the children's transport timetables, anticipating a change for September and they completely surprised me by making immediate changes. They thought I had already contacted you about this, but I only gave you all a gentle reminder about having your children ready in the previous newsletter. Transport have assured me they are sending out letters to you all with new timings shortly, but in the meantime, could you please ensure your child is ready fifteen minutes earlier than usual, or liaise with your child's school escort to establish accurate timings. Please let me know if you are having any difficulties with these new times. We appreciate the efforts of the Transport team, particularly drivers and escorts, as this means the children are all arriving in school ready for our first morning lesson.

Monthly Planners are attached for June and July.

Classes have been very busy taking part in interesting and
varied class trips. Children have been pony cart riding, sailing, spending a fun day at Teignmouth Pier and visiting the Donkey Sanctuary.

Targeted Curriculum - our trial curriculum has been
progressing well, this term. We are still making changes to the groups and activities but hope to have clearer details of each child's activities over an academic year from September, 2011.

Our main aim is to target the curriculum for each child so they have more time to spend on activities which are meaningful for them, such as sensory skills, dressing and undressing, powered wheelchair driving, walking, writing etc. The list of activities and skills is long and includes class based learning, independent living skills and physiotherapy development. I hope that once you have seen the suggested timetable for the academic year for your child, you will agree that he or she will be receiving a truly targeted and personalised curriculum, according to their needs. Feedback from parents will always be welcome.

School Uniform - Beverley will shortly be placing an order for school uniform so if you would like to order any items please let her know as soon as possible.
