Work nearing completion

The New Children's Assessment Centre here at Vranch House is nearing the end of it's construction. In a few weeks time the building will be handed over, and it's first occupants will move in and start work providing their specialist services to the public.

Externally, the scaffolding has been removed, giving us a better view. The doors and windows are all installed, guttering and exterior lighting is in place, and the final brickwork around the electrical substation is just about completed too. Over the next few weeks the groundworks will progress; next week the first stage of the tarmac areas to the east and south sides of the building will be done. The second and final stage of the tarmac will take place in the half term week at the end of May. In the meantime, work on the other exterior features and planting will continue.

Internally, moisture in the floors has delayed the installation of floor coverings. Numerous heaters have been brought in (seen on some of the photos), to hasten the drying process, so that work can proceed on the vinyls and carpets. Meanwhile, work on almost all other aspects is on, or ahead of the revised schedule. Electrical, communication, and alarm installations are almost finished. Plumbing, heating, tiling, and fixtures and fittings are all at an advanced stage, which can also be seen from the images. Much of the decorating has also been done.

Work on the staircase is continuing; rails and banisters go in this week, and work on the lift should get underway soon.

It is expected that the Honeylands staff will start to move into the new building on Monday the 23rd May, with service provision commencing two weeks later on the 6th June 2011. The next Vranch House website update should be published shortly before the staff start to move in.
