Parent's/Carer's Letter May 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is nearly half term and, looking back, this academic year has gone so very quickly!  We have been extremely busy every term this academic year; making changes to the curriculum, adding value to our Core Offer and providing a broad, enjoyable and meaningful range of events for all our incredible pupils.  We are far from ‘finished' in our work for this year however...

The Senior Management Team (SMT) of Vranch House have this year secured an agreement with our funding commissioners to deliver secondary school provision for pupils here at Vranch House.  This has been a long-held desire for the SMT at Vranch House and has historically been thwarted by a number of factors.  We will extend into delivery of secondary and college placements as soon as we have approval by the Department for Education (DfE) to extend the age range we cater for at Vranch House to 2 to 18yrs.  This approval application has already been submitted and we hope to be able to open our secondary/college provision in the Autumn term 2017.  When we have DfE approval I will write and provide all parents and carers with more details about our new and exciting provision.

I have a number of important dates for your diaries, including Sports Day and ‘Open Week'.  For parents and Carers new to Vranch House, the very popular Open Week is a week when the pupils depart from their usual timetables to engage in a week of themed whole-school activities.

This year's theme is ‘Seaside and Coasts' and Parents and Carers are invited to join in with as much of this week as they wish.  The Head of Education and Teachers will endeavour to be available, on request, for 1:1 discussion about your child's progress and annual report (to be issued in late June 2017).  Key dates for the rest of term are:

  • Monday 3rd July to Friday 7th July - ‘Open Week' activities week ‘Seaside and Coast' themed activities
  • Wednesday 5th July - Sports Day - the ‘Vranch House Triathlon'
  • Wednesday 19th July - Achievement Awards and Leavers Assembly

Timings for Sports Day and Achievement Awards and Leavers Assembly to follow nearer the time, after half term.  Once finalised with class the Teachers, I will also issue a timetable for activities during ‘Open Week' after half term.

I look forward to welcoming you all to this packed schedule of events.  If you cannot make Open Week I will, as always, do my best to be available to talk with Parents and Carers at any other time that is convenient to you.

I wish you all a peaceful and enjoyable half term.

Kind regards

Ian Norton

Head of Education
