We hope you like the new logo and title for the centre – ‘Vranch House’ which is designed to encompass the range of facilities available on the Exeter and North Devon sites and across the area via outreach support services.
We welcome Jenny Budd, our new Occupational Therapist, who commences on the 5th March and will work full-time within school, supporting the children’s needs and also as an outreach advisor for mainstream partner schools. Clare Webber, although staying within Vranch House, has taken over the Specialist Wheelchair Service. We thank Clare, very much for all her support and advice and wish both therapists good luck in their new roles.
Since the last newsletter the school have said goodbye to two Class 2 children, Sophie who has moved out of area with her family and Jessica who has transferred to mainstream full-time. A new addition to the school roll is Alex who recently joined Class 1 and we extend a warm welcome to him.
The children very much enjoyed the Sign2Sing afternoon which was held last month in school, we were able to send a donation of £17.12 off to the organisers ‘SignHealth’.
We have been contacted once again by Kevin Cotter from Organic Arts about their innovative wheelchair pony chariot rides at their farm just outside Exeter. They have invited classes to visit again but would also like to welcome families too. If you are interested please have a look at their website (www.organicarts.co.uk).
The government has announced the launch of an advisory service for families, on all aspects of education and SEN. www.cafamily.org.uk/families/SEN
If you wish to contact school with questions or concerns, if possible, please initially contact the relevant department (school or therapy). This can be done via your child’s diary or by telephoning the school. Should you feel that your questions or concerns remain unresolved then please contact the Head Teacher or Head of Therapy and we will endeavour to resolve any problems.
We are very pleased to have now combined the therapy open week, (which has proved popular with parents) with the additional opportunity to visit classes to observe lessons. Please attend as many sessions as you wish. We look forward to seeing you. Tea and coffee are kindly being arranged by Michaela Wood and Julia Tolman-May (parent governors).
We will shortly be sending home a consent form with regard to Therapy which we would be grateful if you would complete and return to school.
Attached for information a communication from face2face (Parents supporting Parents of Disabled Children) giving information and training dates for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer befriender.
School finishes for this term on Friday 30th March and children return to school on Tuesday 17th April as Monday 16th April is a training day for staff.
