Harvest

Our Harvest Celebrations on Thursday 20th October were a great success. All the children and staff had worked hard to create vegetable characters, prayers and poems to share. We were a little disappointed by the low number of parents who could attend. Next year we aim to hold our Harvest Celebrations on a busier day in the hope that more parents will be able to join us. We are aware how busy you are and are very grateful for you donations of dried foods and money. We raised £15.40 and an enormous box of dried goods which have been taken to the collection point in Exeter for the charity Feed the Children. Many thanks for your generosity. (Please see attached photos)

Children in Need Day - 18th November 2011

We do not want to ask you for any financial donations as we do feel we are always asking for something. However as a school we would like to celebrate this important day and individuals will make their own contributions to the collection fund if they wish. In order to celebrate we are inviting children to come to school in a choice of costumes (or a combination!)
Spotty clothes
Pyjamas
Fantasy fancy dress
If you have any gloves, hats or scarves that you no longer need could you send those in and we will pass them on to others who will be able to make use of them.

Liberator day

On Wednesday 9th November the augmentative communication company Liberator visited school to allow parents and staff and visiting professionals to have hands on access to their equipment and listen to advice and ask the expert questions relating to communication. Feedback suggests this day was very useful for people and we will endeavour to provide more opportunities. We are always keen to support families in any way so if you have an idea for an organisation or group that you would like us to invite, please let us know.

PTA

Our last Parent Network ceased activities over a year ago now, as the families involved moved on to other schools. Whilst many of these families maintain strong links with us and support us for Fetes etc we do not have a parent group as such at present. We would very much like to encourage as many parents as possible to become involved and support each other. If anyone has any experience, time available or interest in planning or setting up a support group please let us know.

AGM

On a similar theme, we have a very dedicated set of trustees and a secure number of members of the Vranch Charity. However, we would always welcome families' interest in the Vranch Charity by becoming members. Membership of the Charity is £5 per annum for those in employment or £2 for the unwaged; alternatively life membership can be taken out at a cost of £75. The Charity's annual general
meeting is at 7pm on Monday, 21st November and we look forward to seeing all registered members at that meeting.

Christmas Fete: Saturday 10th December, 2011

Please come and visit and see what is available to buy or try. If you would like to help set up or run a stall that would be welcome. If you cannot help but have some good ideas for fun activities please let us know. Nurse Ruth is once again organising a jam jar tombola and would welcome contributions of jam jars filled with whatever you like which can be used on her tombola stall. Di Brooking is also arranging a cake stall and would be pleased to receive any cakes, biscuits, etc. for that. We are contemplating a game or tombola using bottles so any bottles you may have spare (i.e. sauce, squash or whatever) would be most appreciated. See attached posters.

A reminder that orders can now be placed for the Vranch House Christmas Cards and 2012 Diaries.
