Parents Newsletter July 2011

Date added: Wednesday 20th July 2011
Latest updated: Thursday 23rd February 2023

Welcome to the final Vranch House School Newsletter of the year! A year that has seen many changes and memorable highlights, and has rushed by with great speed.

Olympic and Paralympic tickets

We are fortunate to be in a position to bid for some free tickets to the Olympic or Paralympic games, although there is no guarantee we would actually receive any. I am interested to determine parental interest in taking your child to either of these events. If there is enough interest, I am very happy to place a bid on behalf of everyone in school. Because the Olympics take place during the summer break and the Paralympics take place immediately after school begins in September 2012, I would anticipate that families would need to take their own children to the event, although we could all still travel together as a group. Only the tickets would be free, accommodation and food etc. would need to be paid for. If you are at all interested could you let Tracey or Beverley know, before the end of this term? This would not commit you to taking part; it would just inform me of initial interest.

Holidays

If you are planning a holiday during term time could you please make sure you complete a holiday form, as this is a statutory requirement and it also helps us to plan and prepare for pupil absence.

Transport

Many thanks for all your support regarding earlier starts with transport. The children are now in bright and early and ready to begin the school day by 9.15am. Could you also please remember to inform transport if you are on
holiday, your child is ill or at respite, or you wish to make any changes to their usual routine.

Miscellaneous Information

Attached to this newsletter are details from Liberator of an AAC road show at Newton Abbot in October and communication from the Peninsula Cerebra Research Unit with regard to the launch of their new name and website.

Promotions

A big thank you to everyone for continuing to help us collect vouchers, etc. for various promotions. We received 15,075 Sainsbury’s vouchers and have been able to order PE and cooking equipment and a sensory play bubble. 26,567 Tesco vouchers were collected meaning that we have been able to order a big bean bag for the children to relax in and various maths and computer equipment. A cheque for £31 has been received from Nestlé Box Tops.

Important Dates

Sports Day – Friday 15th July, 10-12. All welcome. Children not usually in school on a Friday are welcome to attend, if they are accompanied by an adult to assist with the sporting activities. Please let Beverley or Tracey know if you are planning to attend.

For parents and carers unable to attend our Achievement Awards Ceremony I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support for the school during this year and to wish you a very happy summer.

School reopens on Wednesday 7th September, 2011 as Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th are training days.
