Parents Newsletter May 2011

Date added: Saturday 14th May 2011
Latest updated: Thursday 23rd February 2023

Welcome to our first newsletter for the Summer Term! As usual I have enclosed a planner
for May which shows some of the activities the children will be involved with during the first
half of this term.

Wildsoc. From Exeter University - we had one student visit from Exeter University
and he planned and presented an afternoon of fun activities for the children, which
involved hiding and finding a range of toy creatures around the grounds and
garden.

Stick and Stone arts project. Sara Sullivan, an artist who works with recycled and
natural materials will be working in school, with the children, during May, to create a
piece of work which can be put on permanent display in school.

Sailing - we have been fortunate enough to have been invited to take part in a
sailing day at Teignmouth with 3d Tender. Class 3 children have been invited to
take part and the trip will take place on Thursday 12th May. Fingers crossed for
good weather and a reasonably calm sea!

  • We anticipate that the swimming pool will be back in action after half-term which begins on Friday 27th May, 2011. The children and staff return to school on Monday 6th June, when we have a visit from a pony from Organic arts.
  • The opening day for the new Honeylands Centre which is being combined with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Vranch House will be taking place on Thursday 16th June, 2011. The official opening will begin from 11.30am, followed by a garden party in Vranch House grounds. Further details to follow shortly.
  • We also have a Whizz Kidz, powered driving and wheelchair skills workshop, for the week from Monday 20th June.
  • Sports Day has been pencilled in for Friday 15th July, 2011. As usual the activities will begin from 10am and will conclude by 12pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and take part, and cheer the children on.
  • Reports are due to be sent home to parents on week beginning 27th June, 2011. Parents evening will take place the following week on Monday 4th July, 2011. Beverley will be sending home further details shortly.
  • Our final day of term is Friday 22nd July, 2011. We will be holding our Achievement Awards on this morning, beginning at 10am. Anyone who is able to attend this event will be most welcome.

PARENTS - A gentle reminder to please try wherever possible to have your child ready for
collection when the bus arrives. We are currently contacting transport to request they fine
tune their timetables and schedules to ensure the prompt arrival of children in school each
day.

The next and final newsletter for this Academic Year will be sent out in June ☺
